The title says it all: 10 live improvisations, each one more impressive than the others. Peter Kater and R. Carlos Nakai have been collaborating together for a long time, always utilizing the technique of improvisation as their main creative tool. Judging fron their previous works, it seems they have been doing quite well. With Improvisations in Concert they gather several pieces recorded live yet ones that had never been released before, in which the essence of the deep, sentimental music, of both artists, reaches its maximum peak. Nakai's flute, of Navajo ascent, and the splendid piano by Kater, a musician of German origin, take us to the immense quiet of wide, virgin spaces. Spontaneity, warmth and sensibility would perhaps be the most adequate words to refer to this work, in which Mark Miller has also participated with other flutes.
