Riley Lee is a famous flute player specialized in the Sino-Japanese flute Shakuhachi. Brought up in Hawaii, since he was very young he felt a strong interest in this instrument. Between 1970 and 1977 he studied in Japan. In 1980 he became the first non-Japanese musician to reach the category of Great Master in the performance with the Shakuhachi. He has played in different countries all over the world, as well as with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and other orchestras.
