EDITORIAL INFORMATION

The Case for Mars was started as an informal and open forum for the discussion of human exploration to Mars. The first conference in March 1981 brought together a diverse group of scientists, engineers, social scientists and interested laypersons. Formal presentations were complemented by workshops and informal discussions. The openness and diversity of the Case for Mars conferences has been maintained through the subsequent conferences and The Case for Mars V reflects these qualities. This books contains the proceedings of the Conference held May 26-29, 1993, at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, USA.
