OUR REVIEW
In this series of volumes of Flora Hellenica all the
flora that can be found in Greece is catalogued in full scientific detail. Firstly, there
is an introduction that describes the contents of the book, the nomenclature, the
references, some traits of the Greek geography, geology and landscape, as well as a brief
history of the botanical exploration in this area. Then, the descriptions of the flora
itself are developed, organized in families, genera and subspecies. The great groups in
which this first volume is divided are the Gymnospermae and the Angiospermae.
Likewise, a list of the scientific literature mentioned in the texts is
offered as well, together with hundreds of maps that site the position of the different
species on the Greek soil. The book is completed with an index of scientific names. |
