OUR REVIEW

CGI/PERL Cookbook is another one of these essential products that John Wiley & Sons have prepared for those programmers specialized in working in Internet. In this occasion, everything one needs to build programs and CGI subroutines, the essential elements to provide our web pages with interactivity, is gathered in a single volume.

The book includes a CD ROM with over twenty scripts and CGI subroutines already written and perfectly functional, that can also be explained in depth in the text. All of them are compatible with the languages Perl 4 and 5, and have been tested on Windows, Unix and MacOS platforms.

Most of the volume is devoted to describing in full detail each given application of the CGIs, and also the functioning of each one of the programs that are useful to this end. Thus, a slow yet steady assimilation of knowledge is reached, which will allow us to master the art of preparing them. There also are appendixes aimed at reviewing the environment variables, the safety of the CGI, other information sources, etc.
