OUR REVIEW
It has not been easy to gather so many historical documents in a
single volume. Not only are published the photographic reproductions of Copernicus's
manuscripts, but also others, written by other people, that were copied from original
manuscripts that have never reached us.
There are 68 documents in all, in an uninterrupted succession, that are
listed at the beginning of the book. They have been ordered in a rational manner:
filigrees, letters, copies of lost letters, astronomical and latitude tables,
administrative and financial documents, and also samples of minor astronomical writings by
this famous astronomer.
This is a monumental work aimed at those readers interested in the study of
the history of astronomy, the perfect basis for biographers and people very interested in
the work developed by Copernicus. |
