EDITORIAL INFORMATION
The Quantum Tai Chi claims that Gauge Theory contains
the seeds of a mathematical theory of consciousness and its related forces. To support
this claim, the book entertains a Symmetry-Breaking Theory of Quantum Measurement. It
describes the so-called "collapse" of the quantum wave function as a change in
state of the "substance" of consciousness.

OUR REVIEW
In The Quantum Tai Shi, Dr. P. Stephen,
a professor of physics at the Utah State University, examines in depth the so-called
"Gauge Theory", where, according to the author, we will find the seeds of a
mathematical theory of consciousness and the forces related to it.
The book starts by describing what the Chinese called a long time ago
"the energy of consciousness" (Chi). The "Tai Chi", on the other hand,
is a sort of step between the spirit and matter, where the yin and the yang reveal the
duality, the opposed qualities of nature.
In his work, Petersen identifies the contact points between
the Tai Chi philosophy and the Gauge Theory, two parallel ways to understand what
surrounds us. Thus, the latter proposes to unify the four forces recognising an unified
symmetry related to them, whereas the former already impulsed this search for a Theory of
the Whole 5000 years ago, and not only of the physical world, but also of what is
inmaterial, as is consciousness.
Petersen shows throughout the entire book his interest to
interpret the quantum theory (in which he is considered an expert), as well as his
interest to approach it to the intangible aspects of nature, including God or what we may
wish to identify with God. It is the difficulty of this interpretation, in which some
explanations are lacking, which moves us to look for the answer in the human brain, in the
mind and in the conscience.
A fascinating theme developed in a clear and at the same time amazing way. |
