OUR REVIEW

Considerations for Sending Humans is the second part of the compilation of lectures presented at the symposium Case for Mars IV, held on June, 1990, at Boulder, Colorado. The first part is compiled in the volume Mission Strategy and Architectures.

This book consists in seven chapters, devoted to the aspects of Martian exploration that directly affect the use of human beings in this enterprise. Such areas as communications, the use of local resources, the life support systems, the fight against a hostile environment, the habitability of the planet, etc., are treated in depths by specialists in each question.

The lecturers have examined the problems of the exploration of Mars, and have stated their own proposals and solutions, obnce again proving that there no longer are any technological difficulties impossible to overcome to make the dream of traveling towards the Red Planet come true. It is economy and politics what can forward or delay the unavoidable arrival of Man to our neighbour.

Univelt, together with the American Astronautical Society, are the ones responsible for this well cared for and complete volume, as they will likewise be of the publishing of the lectures of the already celebrated The Case for Mars V and VI.
