EDITORIAL INFORMATION For the past 40 years, human activities in space have increased, but since the Moon landings more than 20 years ago, the human space programme has often lacked rationale and coherence. In Living and Working in Space, Philip Harris presents a critical review of the current human space programme and identifies the many challenges of future space development. This expanded second edition has been completely revised and updated with a new Foreword, two addtional chapters, one describing strategies for lunar economic development, new Plates and diagrams, and an additional Appendix outlining a proposed treaty of jurisdiction in outer space. (Extracted from the press release). GENERAL TABLE OF CONTENTS
OUR REVIEW The second edition of this book is the perfect platform to exhaustively examine the current situation of the manned space program. It is not a technical vision, but rather a cultural and almost sociological analysis on where this adventure goes to in the future. Many things have happened since its initial publication, so the author has completely reviewed his work, adding new information and contents, a new cover and new graphics, etc. With all that, Harris offers us a detailed work aimed at all kinds of interested readers. Having a comprehensive bibliography, adequate addresses and an appendix devoted to examining the viability of a possible lunar colony, the book contains sufficient attractive traits to satisfy anyone. Written with clarity and a divulgative ambition, it has all the ingredients to justify this second edition. |
