THE SEATTLE HARMONIC VOICES: "HARMONIC VOICE" (2CD) Cathartic Records / Monktail Records In this double CD, the vocal ensemble The Seattle Harmonic Voices shows the impressive possibilities of overtone singing when they are furthermore boosted by a stage with special acoustics. The stage where these performances were held is no doubt special, and perhaps unique, due to its peculiar architectural characteristics. It is no auditorium, not even a pleasant environment where an artist can feel comfortable when performing. It is in fact an underground tank in Fort Warden State Park, in Port Townsend, Washington. The tremendous echo of such a peculiar place interacts with the particular techniques of overtone singing to succeed in producing a bewitching collection of pieces, whose textures are mostly choral, as well as an enigmatic air that occasionally brushes the ominous.
