ROBERT RICH

"SEVEN VEILS"

Hearts of Space

The impressive seven compositions in this work use many elements of the traditional music from the Midle East, but these are combined with ethereal, cosmic atmospheres. Robert Rich, who in this album plays the synthesizers, percussion and flutes, is accompanied by Iap Steel (guitar , among others), David Torn (guitar), Hans Christian (Cello), Forrest Fang (violin), Mark Forry (Balkan Kaval) and Andrew McGowan (bass). Rich offers us a suggestive sonic expedition to ancient Egypt. The music gathers Egyptian elements, mystic environments, and melodies ranging between ethnic and mysterious airs. Almost all the themes are rhythmic. The rhythms are usually elaborated with percussion instruments from the Midle East. This album is ideal as a movie soundtrack for a mystery film based on a H. P. Lovecraft's story. In my opinion, the best achieved composition is "Book of Ecstasy".
