This re-release of The Light of the Spirit has been made with a digital remasterization at 20 bits. The album is one of the most prestigious ones by the artist, and contributed to making him into a star of New Instrumental Music, as well as a creator of romantic music with the same power of attraction as the one that romantic singers usually have. "The Light of Spirit", which gives its title to the album, and "Journey to a fantasy" are masterpieces by Kitaro, have harvested a massive success all over the world, and surely are reference symbols in some stage of the life of a good deal of listeners of his music like the one who is writing this review, in a similar way as the Beatles were for part of a generation. "In the Beginning" and "Moondance" also enter within this frame. Yet, although the romantic component stars in this album, there are other compositions of a different kind that also have a capital importance. The piece that opens the CD, "Mysterious Encounter", is a cosmic-symphonic theme of an unusual majesty. "The Field" also is cosmic, ethereal. "Howling Thunder" and "Sundance" have an overwhelming rhythm, very percussive, with elements of World Music, and both suggest voyages full of adventures.
