Beyond Africa is the first album that the young singer and composer Andrea Morese releases. Given her clear artistic maturity, it is surprising that we have had no chance to enjoy her music before. Hers are themes where the voice has a basic role, always being well cushioned by keyboards, percussion and wind instruments. Comfortably integrated in the most widely accepted trend of the New Age (her work has been well received both in radio stations and in the specialized press), her songs are nevertheless very personal. Morese drinks from classical sources, yet also from the avantgarde. She takes care of everything, the voices and the instruments, as well as the composition and arrangements. Thus she has obtained a collection of themes of a very different nature: some are quite near to tradition, others are festive, others are almost medieval, and even some are metaphysical, too. A whole surprise. Andrea Morese deserves to be taken into account and paid attention to from now on.
