This is a special album by Mike Oldfield for several reasons. It includes not only music, but also, taking advantage of the possibilities that the CD format provides, computer tracks (Mac) that show the multimedia dimension of this work. Another attractive characteristic is the fact that it is based on the novel of the same title written by Arthur C. Clarke (the author of "2001, A Space Odyssey"), and the fact that the writer has given his support to the project. The musical contents of this album unites Oldfield's symphonism with futuristic atmospheres and a general approach in accordance with the character of the book that inspired it.
