The surprising electronic music of the German band Tangerine-Dream has experienced multiple stages along their very long recording career. One of these stages, the one that could be called more "classical", contemplated works of unarguable endurance. Once the most experimental phase was abandoned, and once the band entered the most commercial and at the same time the most innovative areas, Tangerine-Dream began to give concerts to a massive audience of a very peculiar configuration. In them, and therefore, in Encore, a double album that includes the music performed during their American tour in 1977, the essence of the TD sound is shaped: long, dense themes incorporating complicated sequenced paragraphs, easy melodies, experimental fragments, etc. Within the true avant-garde of electronic music of the seventies, equipped with their enormous instruments, Tangerine Dream made both good and bad things, yet they opened a whole school that even now continues to have followers.
