Previous Page (Galleries).The seed of Doctor Wize's unique sound lies in his Jamacian rasta roots where he learned music as a youth. Later he emigrated to the USA where he studied under illustrious modern-classical composer Samuel Barber at Trinity College, and earned a doctorate at the United States International University in San Diego, which is well known for its performing arts program. His musical experience includes playing with such diverse artists as Bill Laswell, Daevid Allen's Gong and recording with members of the Wailers in the famed Tuff Gong Studio. In the early 1980's, he released two albums VALHALLA and CONSCIOUSNESS PROGRAM, that laid the foundation musically for the dark, ambient ethnic electronic sound that has become popular today.
