Peter Bastian is one of the few Danish musicians equally respected as a performer of classical as well as rhythmical music. He was born in 1943. In 1962-71 he was studying, and later teaching, theoretical physics at the University of Copenhagen. The Danish Wind Quintet has obtained international recognition as one of Scandinavia's finest chamber music ensembles, with concerts all over the world. Bastian is also a member of the group Bazaar, founded in 1977. Bazaar plays an unpredictable mixture of Slavic/Turkish, Latin, Afro, Rock with a strange touch of classical contemporany music. Together with the Danish guitarist Stig Moller, Bastian played and produced "Forest Walk", music for meditation. In 1991, this album was awarded a silver-record. In 1987 his book "The Inner Side of Music" was published. It became a bestseller and rewarded Peter Bastian with a literature prize. He plays electric bassoon, clarinet, and other instruments.
