PROGETTO AVANTI

This duo is formed by the Swedish guitarists Max Gossell (born in 1959) and Hakan Frennesson (born in 1960). Gossell began playing Rock and Blues with an electric guitar, until at age nineteeen he began his studies of classical guitar, deeply attracted by this instrument. His learning process took him to Spain and to the United States as well. Frennesson felt fascinated from a very young age by the classical guitar, and studied at the same conservatoire as Gossell's, later moving to the United States, where he lived for some time. In 1991 they joined their efforts in the common project of making transcriptions for guitar of orchestral works. During the EXPO'92 in Seville (Spain) their performances at the Swedish Pavillion were highly successful. This encouraged them to continue, and they even got the support of Joaquin Rodrigo himself, the author of the famous "Concierto de Aranjuez", which they rendered into a brilliant version for two guitars.
